Welcome to Grow

CDM’s mission is to strengthen the Church through connections. Through articles, podcasts, and resources we want to help connect you with people and tools that will help you in ministry.

Ministry to children can often feel lonely, but we hope this site will be a place that will encourage you and equip you for a lifetime of investing in the next generation. You are part of God’s covenant community and your investment in the little ones really does matter to God.

Check back often for new posts and updated resources.

Building Little Pillars In The Faith

Building Little Pillars in the Faith Back in the day when my pigtails were tied with ribbons, when my knees were constantly brandishing scrapes and scabs, and when (according to my children) dinosaurs frolicked with my pet saber-toothed tiger in the backyard, I discovered the most remarkable toy. Winter in South Florida ushers in an opportunity for its sweaty residents to throw open [...]

All The Things You Wish You Knew

All the Things You Wish You Knew  When I began serving in children's ministry, I was very young. I often look back on my years serving as a children's director and think, "Wow! There are so many things I would do differently if I knew then what I know now!" I grew up a covenant child.  I grew up volunteering at VBS and in [...]

Engaging your Children in Missions

The Glory Story Mission to the World has partnered with several PCA churches to develop a video series to engage our children about Missions! These videos are designed to encourage the hearts of children to engage in God's story of growing his Kingdom. Each video provides unique content including praise and worship, teaching on missions, Bible stories, and encouragement for living missionally as [...]

Teaching Children To Discriminate

Teaching Children to Discriminate With the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on homosexual marriage and recent efforts to claim certain legal rights for the “transgendered,” states and cities have responded with proposed laws and ordinances of their own.  Proponents have argued that these are attempts to protect traditional Christian definitions of marriage, as well as the freedom of religion.  Opponents claim these are simply [...]

Failure, Fraud, and Shame

Failures, Fraud, and Shame I LOVE my job as the Director of Children’s Ministries at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, Virginia! But let me tell you this: day after day I struggle with feeling like a fraud. Shame tries to dig in his ugly claws, hoping to cause me to doubt, nagging me, setting out to discourage me, and seeking to make me [...]

Big Changes for Teach Me To Worship Curriculum

Ninety-six new activities! Not only has Teach Me to Worship been revised (with several completely new lessons), but each lesson now has two additional activities, so you can choose the one that best suits your students. This also allows you to rotate activities from year to year or have a different activity for each age group. And the best part of all, there is no [...]

What Will your Summer Festival Look Like?

While the world cheers on the 2021 Olympians, inspire your VBS Athletes to go the distance with Joshua, the great champion of the Bible who points us to Jesus! A few years ago, there was a terrible rumor going around.  VBS is becoming extinct!  Churches are just not doing it any longer. I am so thankful that rumor was not true and that [...]
